Over thousand firms: the emerging frame of Modena’s Confindustria associated firms mirrors the economic reality of the province.

The most substantial sections are the “historical” ones, that is to say: Engineering Industry (31,7%) and Textile-Clothing (9,8 %), followed by Building (9,2 %).

Ceramic tiles and food companies are a considerable group, which respectively hold a portion equal to 5,7 and 6,9 % of the total.

Service companies are mostly oriented to industry and represent almost 26% of the associative basis. The small dimension is another outstanding feature of firms adhering to Modena’s Confindustria: 69,2% have less than 50 employees and 58,9% have a turnover inferior to 10 million Euros.

Taking a look to sectors, in terms of turnover,  the most relevant is the ceramic tiles one (42,3 % of the companies exceed 50 million Euros), followed by food and Bio medical sectors.

The supremacy, in number of employees, is held by companies producing ceramic tiles. In deed 18,9%  of these firms count more than 500 workers, followed by Bio medicals.

On the opposite side, the most fragmentary productive  sector is Textile-Clothing both in terms of turnover (59 % of the firms do not exceed 10 million Euros) and workers (less than 50 in 80,9% of the cases).

A particular qualifying  aspect comes from the exporting capacity analysis: 53,5% of Modena’s Confindustria firms normally place over one third of their turnovers abroad; the most important markets are the European ones, followed by Northern America and Asian countries.
